BAU: The district-level National Youth Day 2023 was a success after youths from the Kuching Division Youth and Sports Office and the Mas Gading Community College helped instil the importance of youth in nation building through today’s (May 8) activity-filled programme.

The programme held at the college saw the participation of about 100 students and staff of the community college, engaging in activities such as group aerobic exercises and attending lectures on sports injury and therapy by the Youth and Sports office, as well as talks on social issues and drug abuse presented by the Kuching National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).

Kuching Division Youth and Sports assistant officer Joyce Anyie said the National Youth Day 2023 celebration is one of the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ major programmes that emphasises the importance of youth participation in the country’s development, thus creating a safe, harmonious environment embodied with a sense of love and patriotism for the country.

“The Ambang Hari Belia Negara (eve of National Youth Day) activities have been ongoing since May 1 and will last till May 14.

“Mas Gading Community College was selected for the Bau district level, which was held today, and we are touched by their cooperation and enthusiastic participation, as we targeted 29,100 people for the National Youth Day Eve activities in 122 districts, regions, and areas in Sarawak this year,” she added.

The closing ceremony of the National Youth Day Eve 2023 district-level programme in Bau was officiated by the college’s director Shirley Phillip.
