Zero case, 12 recoveries

KUCHING: There was no new positive case of Covid-19 recorded on Saturday, with the state maintaining the total number of cases at 678.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee, in a statement yesterday, said 12 new recovery cases were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total to 591, or 87.17 percent.

“Of the number, eight patients were discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), three from Bintulu Hospital and one from Sungai Buloh Hospital, Selangor (a Sarawakian).”

SDMC said that 68 individuals were still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards and the total number of deaths remained at 19, or 2.80 percent to date.

There are two new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases and another three are currently awaiting laboratory test results.

On the statewide monitoring of standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance, SDMC said surveillance teams comprising of 650 personnel had inspected 2,215 locations which included 445 supermarkets, restaurants (583), factories (19), banks (191), government offices (101), hawker centres (66), markets (86), places of worship (112), recreational areas (48), construction sites (11), and others (553).

“The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) have issued 18 compound notices for non-compliance with SOPs namely seven in Miri, Kuching (six), Samarahan and Padawan (two each) and one in Limbang.

“Meanwhile, 12 foreigners comprising six each from China and Vietnam were arrested in Sibu for non-compliance of SOPs,” it said.
