KUCHING: Sarawak recorded zero positive Covid-19 case on Monday (Oct 19); the cumulative tally of positive cases in the state remains at 768.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said no new active clusters were found in Sarawak. However, two clusters are still active — Bah Arnab Clusters in Kuching and Putra Cluster in Bintulu.

“For the Bah Arnab Cluster, 40 individuals have been screened where 12 tested positive. Eight of these cases were detected through the second screening on the tenth day of quarantine.

“For Putra Cluster in Bintulu, 190 individuals have been screened where six cases tested positive,” Uggah said at the daily Covid-19 press conference.

Uggah said two cases had recovered and been discharged from Miri Hospital and Sibu Hospital, bringing the total number of recovered and discharged cases statewide so far to 703, or 91.54 percent.

As of yesterday, 46 cases are still receiving treatment in the isolation ward at hospitals — 32 in Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), seven in Miri Hospital, seven in Bintulu Hospital.

“No cases are receiving treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) and the death toll in the state remains at 19 or 2.47 percent.

He said eight new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported while two PUIs were still awaiting laboratory results.

Meanwhile, Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, and Lubok Antu districts remain as yellow zones as 22 cases were reported in the past 14 days, while the remaining are still green zones,” Uggah said.

He added that 131 new persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 23 hotels to 1,699.
