Zero case for seven days straight

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case for the seventh consecutive day, maintaining its cumulative number at 699.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement informed that there is one new case that had recovered and discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

With this, the total number of recovered and discharged cases thus far remains at 669 or 95.71 percent.

“Eleven individuals are still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards — seven in Bintulu, three in SGH, and one in Miri.

“Apart from that, eight person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and one case is awaiting laboratory results,” the committee said.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the state remains at 19 cases or 2.72 percent.

SDMC also reported that 62 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) have checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 12 hotels to 644, while 23,555 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

The committee noted that there is still one remaining active cluster in Sarawak, namely the Alam Cluster in Bintulu involving eight cases.

On compounds issued for violating the recovery movement control order (RMCO) standard operating procedures (SOPs), the police have issued 11 compounds — 10 in Kuching and one in Kota Samarahan.

The police have inspected a total of 1,763 premises statewide for SOP compliance.

These include 342 restaurants, supermarkets (227), banks (141), public markets (93), places of worship (85), government offices (58), hawkers (50), leisure places (48), construction sites (17), factories (six), and others (696).

The committee also informed that 1,182 vehicles were inspected in six “Ops Benteng” roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu with one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
