Zero case streak continues

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 case for the fifth consecutive day, maintaining the total number of positive cases in the state at 700.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement, said that there are no new recoveries and discharged cases from Bintulu Hospital, making the number of recoveries and discharged cases remain at 678 or 96.86 percent.

They said three cases that are still receiving treatment at hospitals — one each at Bintulu Hospital, Sibu Hospital and Miri Hospital.

One Covid-19 cluster, that is the Alam Cluster in Bintulu, is still active with eight cases.

Seven cases from the cluster have recovered and been discharged from the hospital, while one case is still receiving treatment at Bintulu Hospital.

The death toll in the state remains at 19 or 2.72 percent as no deaths were reported.

Meanwhile, two new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and two are still awaiting laboratory test results.

On the number of persons-under surveillance (PUS), 51 have been checked into designated hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 11 hotels to 677.

To date, 23,889 PUS have completed their quarantine period.
