MIRI: In a vibrant celebration of unity and culture, the Zone 6 Fire and Rescue Department held a memorable Raya and Kaamatan gathering at the Lopeng Fire Station on Tuesday night.

With nearly 1,000 firemen and their families in attendance, the event was a testament to the spirit of camaraderie and diversity within the department.

Also in attendance were heads of various government agencies, volunteer firefighters and Miri deputy mayor Cr Ariffin Mohamad.

The guest-of-honour for the evening was none other than Zone 6 chief, Ismaidi Ismail, whose presence added a touch of honour and significance to the festivities.

In his opening speech, Ismaidi expressed his belief that such gatherings served as invaluable opportunities to strengthen bonds and foster ties between different agencies, emphasising the collective effort needed to ensure the safety and well-being of communities.

Honouring firemen in conjunction with the World Firefighters’ Day, Ismaidi (4th left) with other guests get ready to cut the cake.

The gathering was not only an opportunity for the firemen to unwind and celebrate, but also a platform to showcase the rich tapestry of local delicacies.
