KUCHING: Police have issued 10 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the police will continue to carry out operations to enforce the SOPs in public places and flouters will be issued a compound notice on the spot.

Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with eight, followed by two in Miri.

“Apart from that, the Ministry of Local Government issued 56 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils,” the committee said.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,370 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 253 restaurants, supermarkets (182), banks (99), places of worship (52), public markets (46), government offices (45), leisure places (35), hawker stalls (28), construction sites (32), factories (seven), and others (606).

Under Ops Benteng, there are eight roadblocks in five districts — two each in Lundu and Lawas, and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu. A total of 952 vehicles were inspected.
