MIRI: A single-car accident at Jalan Miri-Bintulu here yesterday (May 5) claimed the lives of three individuals and left four others injured.

The incident happened near Rumah Nginbang Mile 72 Suai, Niah as the vehicle, carrying an entourage en route to deliver a wedding proposal in Belaga from Taman Tunku, met with disaster when its tire burst.

The car subsequently collided with a roadside signboard and lamp post.

APM personnel swiftly responding to the emergency.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre, firemen from Batu Niah fire station led by its chief Rary Binjie and the Miri Civil Defence Force (APM) swiftly responded to the emergency call, which came in at 6.50 pm.

Sadly, despite their efforts, three individuals, identified as Jenggeng Leo Tinsok, 39, Everlyn Sherly Manyie, 26, and Eddy Indau, 26, were pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.

Four injured survivors were taken to Batu Niah Health Clinic for medical treatment.
