KUCHING: Some 100 families received food aid from the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, under its Ramadan Donation Programme here yesterday (Mar 22).

The programme was a collaboration between the embassy and the Malaysian IKRAM Organisation and IKRAM Sarawak.

Recipients of the food aid were from the villages of Sri Maimunah, Sungai Periok and Jalan Mendu.

The food aid handover ceremony at Sri Maimumah village was attended by the Minister of Chinese Embassy in Malaysia, Tang Rui.

Tang Rui said supporting those in need remains a core value for both Islamic and Chinese culture.

“For years, the Chinese Embassy in Malaysia has been working alongside the Malaysian government and society on charitable efforts, lending a helping hand to our Malaysian friends in need, during the pandemic and floods.

“Today, we are here in Kuching with IKRAM to deliver essential items to you, trying our best to provide relief during the month of Ramadan,” he said.
