130 traders in Daro receive RM5 mln from entrepreneurial aid scheme

A TOTAL of 130 entrepreneurs in Daro have benefited from the government’s entrepreneurial assistance amounting to RM5.02 million.

Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Datuk Malcolm Mussen Lamoh enhance the business community’s capacity post-Covid-19, his ministry has been assigned to lead the implementation of the Business Empowerment and Recovery Fund (BizFund).

“BizFund is a financial assistance to support business resilience in Sarawak, implementing capacity development programmes and business improvements for its members.

“Up to now, a total of 10,905 business members have received benefits with an allocation of RM17.6 million,” he said in response to Safiee Ahmad (GPS-Daro) during question-and-answer session in the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) today.

Earlier, Safiee inquired on the number of entrepreneurs in Daro who have benefited from the entrepreneurial assistance.

Meanwhile, Mussen said that the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 1.0 to 9.0 includes both financial and non-financial aid for the people, including small- and medium-enterprises (SMEs), amounting to RM6.7 billion, benefiting over 97,000 business communities.

The assistance includes interest-free soft loans for SMEs, a one-off financial assistance of RM10,000 per company for active SMEs, and RM3,000 per company for active micro-enterprises in Sarawak registered with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), as well as a special grant of RM3,250 per recipient for hawkers and petty traders registered with local authorities.
