16-ft-long python caught roaming neighbourhood

KUCHING: Residents of Lorong Bowood 2A3 had an unexpected encounter last night (Oct 7) when they discovered a 16-foot-long reticulated python casually meandering through their neighbourhood at Jalan Batu Kawa-Matang.

Fuelled by concerns over the reptile’s potential impact and the neighbourhood’s safety, they immediately alerted the Civil Defence Force (APM) Kuching at 7.58pm.

In response, a four-member team was quickly deployed to the scene to capture the slithery creature.

Upon arrival, they found that the python was outside of the houses at Lorong Bowood 2A3 and captured it with a snake hook and a snake tong.

Following the successful catch, the reptile was taken back to the APM Kuching office for further action. The snake catching operation concluded at 8.55pm.
