KAKUS: Twelve longhouses and 170 households here have been receiving food aid under the Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 6.0 package since yesterday (June 6).

The longhouses are Rh Merayang Gerina, Nanga Malat, Ulu Anap, Tatau; Rh Johnny Mancha, Rh Nyanau Sandum; Rh Thomson Achun; Rh Mawang Mat, Takan; Rh Andrew Jarau, Takan; Rh Belong Entalang, Takan, Rh Jeffery Nang; Rh Sayong Murapi; Rh Philip Ngelambai; Rh Enteri Aju, and Rh Gasah Sumbang.

Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai said the aid will be distributed in stages and ensure that no one is left out.

“Although the assistance is not much, the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government is doing its best to help the people and it is hoped that the assistance will ease the burden of the people,” he said after distributing the food aid to the recipients.

Sikie was accompanied by an officer from the Kakus Constituency Service Centre.

Today (June 7), those in the Nanga Tau and Sangan area started receiving the aid.

Next to receive the aid are people in Ulu Kalus, Belungai and Kakus Ili area, followed by those surrounding the Tatau Market; areas in the Kakus constituency under the administration of Mukah District Office, including Bawan and Lubok Bukut areas as well as the Sungai Arip, Bawang and Tau area under the administration of the Selangau District Office.

“It is hoped that aid recipients will be patient as the area is so vast and it requires some time to deliver the aid,” he said.

He revealed that areas placed under lockdown will not receive the assistance under the BKSS package as they will be receiving it from the State Social Welfare Department.
