2,000 at Kapit powerboat race

KAPIT : Two thousand people witnessed a powerboat race held at Kapit Riverfront yesterday.

The one-day competition organised by Kapit Division Powerboat Association (KADPA) was one of the closing activities for Kapit Fest that ended yesterday.

Bukit Goram assemblyman Jefferson Jamit Unyat Was the guest-of-honour.

Ten events consisting of pump engine, 50 HP tunnel boat, 35 HP tunnel boat (two-piston), 30 HP tunnel boat and 18 HP tunnel boat were held.

Present to witness the powerboat race at the grandstand erected at Kapit Express Passenger Terminal were Hulu Rajang Member of Parliament Datuk Wilson Ugak Kumbong, Kapit Resident Joseph Belayong, Bukit Mabong District Officer Douglas Pungga, Political Secretary to the Chief Minister Nicholas Kudi Jantai, Kapit District Council walikota Philimon Nuing , heads of several government departments and community leaders.
