22 SOP flouters issued compounds

KUCHING: Police have issued a total of 22 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the police would continue to carry out operations to enforce the SOPs in public places. Those who are found violating will be issued a compound notice on the spot.

Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with 14, followed by Miri (seven), and one in Sarikei.

“Apart from that, the Ministry of Local Government issued 67 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils,” the committee said.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,429 premises throughout Sarawak.

These include 267 restaurants, 210 supermarkets, 107 banks, 53 places of worship, 47 public markets, 43 government offices, 35 leisure places, 32 hawker stalls, 13 construction sites, seven factories and 615 others.

Presently there are eight roadblocks being held under Ops Benteng in five districts, namely two each in Lundu and Lawas plus each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu. A total of 1,431 vehicles have been inspected through six roadblocks.
