23rd ATA in Kuching a huge success

KUCHING: The 23rd Asian Television Awards (ATA) held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) for three nights since Friday has been described as “a huge success”.

Lee Keen Whye, chairman of ATV Awards Sdn Bhd, co-host of the event, said: “I truly feel that we have accomplished our goals and hope to further expand our reach, and be able to top this year’s benchmark in 2020.”

Lee said he was proud of the attendance and support of the local and foreign participants and the global community.

The holding of the 23rd edition of the ATA in Kuching was in support of the Visit Sarawak Campaign organised by the state’s Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry.

Its minister, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, said the ATA was a huge success, adding that he was proud to be part of this prestigious event.

“We hope that all our visitors had an amazing night and were able to discover Sarawak’s natural beauty,” he added.

On Saturday night, more than 50 top Asian celebrities attended the 23rd ATA live show.

They included Derek Chun, James Kumar, Ase Wang, Cheng Rexen, Maylada Susri, Kim Nam Joo, Maneerat Kum-Uan, Hu Gua, Ah Xiang, Louis Scott, Ray Macdonald, Jirayu Tantrakul and Hoang Yen Shibiand.

There was also a remarkable line-up of top Asian celebrities who performed such as SF9, Qu Wanting, Via Vallen, Alvin Chong, Gary Valenciano, Kiana Valenciano and Winnie K. – Bernama
