As of today, 24 projects have been approved under the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (Score) with investments totalling RM39.94 billion, said Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise Development Assistant Minister Datuk Naroden Majais.

He said these projects would create 17, 828 job opportunities.

“Of the 24 projects, 11 projects with a total investment of RM19.06 billion are in operation and will create 10,262 job opportunities.

“Now, Score is in its second phase of implementation (2016- 2020) which gives focus on the cluster development and industrial value chain as well as research and development (R&D),” explained Naroden.

He was responding to questions from Dr Juanda Jaya (GPS-Jemoreng) and Yussibnosh Balo (GPS-Tellian) on the initiatives the Regional Corridor Development Authority (Recoda) had taken to bring development for Jamoreng residents and the current Score development.

“Jemoreng is within the Score area, which is strategically located between Mukah and Tanjung Manis, two important growth nodes of Score.

“And Jemoreng definitely can benefit from the two development areas,” he added.

Naroden explained that Score which started in 2008, covered an area of 70,000 sq kms.

“In 2017, the Score area was expanded to 100,000 sq kms. It includes the central region and the northern region of Limbang and Lawas,” he said.

The assistant minister added the establishment of three agencies by the Sarawak government, namely Recoda, Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda), Highland Development Agency (Had) and Northen Region Development Agency (Nrda) is to expedite the implementation of projects within the Score areas.

“The state government has allocated RM1.5 billion for these agencies to build various infrastructure such as roads and bridges, recreational facilities, provide power and water supply, boost development of the agriculture sector, aquaculture, tourism and entrepreneurship,” he said.
