2,487 new positive cases, 15 deaths

KUCHING: Sarawak today (Sept 30) recorded a total of 2,487 new positive Covid-19 cases, bringing the state’s cumulative tally to 209,624 cases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said, of the number, 2,472 (99.4 percent) were Categories 1 and 2 cases while 15 cases (0.60 percent) were in Categories 3, 4 and 5.

“For Category 1 (no symptoms), there are 431 cases (17.33 percent) while 2,041 (82.07 percent) are Category 2 cases (mild symptoms).

“Category 3 (lung infections) have three cases (0.12 percent), Category 4 (lung infections and requires oxygen) have seven cases (0.28 percent) and Category 5 (lung infections and require ventilators) have five cases (0.20 percent),” SDMC said in a statement.

Kuching accounted for 745 new cases, followed by Miri (361), Sarikei (168), Sibu (139), Bintulu (108), Limbang (82), Saratok (79), Serian (74), Sri Aman (73), Bau (67), Asajaya (67), Samarahan (59) and Lundu (51).

Kanowit recorded 48 cases, Betong (43), Simunjan (37), Kapit (36), Tatau (31), Bukit Mabong (24), Subis (22), Meradong (21), Lawas (19), Dalat (17), Lubok Antu (16), Belaga (14), Tebedu (13), Selangau (12), Tanjung Manis (11) and Daro (10).

There were nine new cases in Mukah, Marudi has seven cases, Julau (six), Pusa, Song and Beluru each recorded four cases, Pakan with three cases, Kabong has two cases and Sebauh – one.

All positive cases have been admitted to the respective hospitals, Covid-19 quarantine and low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) and Covid-19 assessment centre (CAC) for isolation and treatment.

Meanwhile, SDMC also reported 15 Covid-19 related deaths between Sept 21 and Sept 29, which included four brought-in dead (BID) cases.

The dead comprises eight elderly males and seven females, most of whom had comorbidities.
