MIRI: A total of 80 local cases have been solved following 25 arrests within the last two months, said city police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah.

He said most of the suspects have been charged in court with various crimes.

“The cases involved crimes like armed robbery, burglary, theft, and smashing windows to get valuables inside vehicles,” said Lim during a press conference yesterday morning at Miri Central Police station (CPS).

Regarding Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting’s house that was broken into recently, Lim said the case was considered solved with the arrest of eight suspects.

“Several items were discovered and have been identified as belongings of Datuk Ting. These include two Chinese porcelain vases,” he said.

“The police also discovered other items believed to be from other break-in cases. They have not been identified by the victims,” he said.

With that, Lim called on victims of housebreaking in the city to come to Miri CPS to identify their belongings. Among the items seized following the arrest of the suspects were electronic gadgets, flat screen televisions, DVD players, remote controls, decoders, CD players, handphones and wristwatches including a Rolex.
