KUCHING: Thirty-seven development projects for areas under the Upper Rajang Development Agency (Urda) will begin next year.
Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing said the projects, covering more than 41,000 square kilometres, would cost RM1.47 bln.
“The infrastructure projects stretch from Kanowit, Song, Kaput, Bukit Mabong and Belaga district, and represented by eight assemblymen and three MPs,” he said during the third Urda board meeting on Tuesday here.
Masing, who is also Urda chairman, said some of the contracts had been awarded while the rest would be awarded in the next few months.
“On top of that, we have also agreed to establish the Urda headquarters in Kapit.
“The site has been identified, and now we are waiting for endorsement from the Regional Corridor Development Authority,” he said.
