376 new cases recorded in Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 376 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the number of total cases to 64, 851

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 239 or 63.30 percent of the new cases were detected in the districts of Kuching, Sibu, Bau, Mukah and Telang Usan.

Kuching recorded 94 new covid-19 cases, followed by Sibu (63), Bau (32), Mukah (28), Telang Usan (21), Serian (17), Serikei (14), Samarahan (14), Sri Aman (13), Miri (10), Selangau (nine), Bintulu (nine), Kanowit (nine), Subis (seven), Meradong (seven), Saratok (six), Lundu (five), Kapit (five), Dalat (three), Asajaya (three), Pakan (two), Tebedu (two), Tatau (two) and Lawas (one).

Out of the total, 37 cases showed signs and symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening.

Three hundred and fifteen cases were individuals under quarantine orders; 254 were close contacts while 61 cases were screened from active clusters.

Another 38 cases were detected through screening tests at health facilities while 23 were individuals with symptoms

The committee added that 403 cases had recovered and were discharged today(June 30) from hospital and low-risk treatment centres statewide.

Eighty nine cases were from the Miri Hospital and its PKRCs, 75 from the Sarawak General Hospital and its PKRCs, 60 from the Bintulu Hospital and its PKRs, 57 from the Sarikei Hospital and its PKRCs, 50 from the Sibu Hospital and its PKRCs, 34 from the Kapit Hospital and its PKRCs, 27 from the Betong PKRCs, 20 from the Sri Aman Hospital and  its PKRCs , 16 from the  Mukah PKRCs  and two from the Serian PKRCs.

“This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 54,183 people or 83.55 percent from the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak.

The SDMC said 10,109 people were still undergoing treatment and isolation at PKRCs and hospital wards across the state .
