43 villagers get electricity, thanks to ALAF project

SEBUYAU: A total of 43 applicants in Kampung Seruyuk have now gained access to electrical supply, thanks to the Additional or Late Applicant Fund (ALAF) project.

The RM143,626 project which commenced in September last year was completed in June this year.

Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi hoped the local residents who have now received electricity connections will fully utilise this essential amenity.

“I hope the local residents can enjoy, fully utilise, and make the most of the basic electrical supply infrastructure that has been provided to help improve the local socio-economic conditions and overall living standards.

“I would like to extend my congratulations to the residents of Sebuyau for their cooperation in making this people’s project a success.

“To those who have not yet received electrical connections, I urge you all to be patient as the project is being carried out in stages,” he said when officiating the ALAF project at Kampung Seruyuk mosque here Saturday (Sept 9).

He disclosed that as of the second quarter of this year, a total of 13,699 households had benefited from the ALAF project, with 5,902 households in various stages of implementation.

Out of this figure, Julaihi who is Sebuyau assemblyman said 532 households have received design approvals and are awaiting contractor panel availability, while 615 households are at the final design stage.

Additionally, he said 7,579 applicants are currently undergoing survey work, and the remaining 6,000 households still in the screening stage.

Meanwhile, Julaihi said a substantial progress is evident in the street lighting project in Samarahan under the Integrated Regional Samarahan Development Authority (IRSDA).

He said this comprehensive initiative comprises two packages.

Under the first package, he said a total of 1,786 street lamps will be installed across various clusters, covering Jalan Stakan, Jalan Pentagon, the Samarahan area, extending to Asajaya Town and the Batang Sadong Bridge.

He noted that the contract value for Package 1 is estimated at RM 13,967,922. Package 2 will see the installation of 2,724 street lamps across multiple clusters.

It will cover various locations, including Jalan Gedong to Simunjan Bridge, Simunjan Junction to Simunjan Town, Simunjan Town to the Batang Sadong

Bridge, the Batang Sadong Bridge to Sebangan Junction, and Sebangan Junction to Sebuyau Ferry Point.

He said the contract cost for Package 2 is estimated at RM 17,823,585.
