436 households in Baleh to benefit from RES Last Miles Scheme

TWO projects under the Rural Electricity Scheme (RES) Last Miles Scheme involving 18 longhouses are expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said 436 households in Baleh will benefit from the project, with 252 household involved in the second phase and 184 in the fourth phase.

“The cost of the RES Last Miles projects involves a cost of RM29 million,” he said in reply to Nicholas Kudi Jantai (GPS-Baleh) during question time today.

Dr Abdul Rahman also said various grid projects under the RES Last Miles Scheme, Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (SARES) and hybrid off-grid projects have been implemented since 2016 in Baleh.

“Currently, two more projects involving four longhouse will be implemented through off-grid SARES, and three longhouse will be implemented through the RES Last Miles Scheme.”

“These projects are expected to start in the third quarter of 2023,” he said.
