MUKAH: About fifty participants took part in the Stingless Bee(Kelulut) Honey Entrepreneurship Course held at Dewan Suarah Mesra, here, last Monday.
The half-day event held at the ICT center of the civic center was organised by Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia(AIM) in collaboration with the DA Virtual Sdn Bhd.
The participants comprised AIM members from Dalat and Mukah District including some from the Area Neighbourhood Watch Committee(KRT). Among the topics touched were; What is Kelulut Honey, Why Kelulut, Nutritious Kelulut Honey, Breeding Preparation, product and marketing plan.
Besides the honey, the popular products of kelulut were the downstream ones such as facial cream, soap, shower gel, cocktail, body lotion, and chocolate. It was said that there are 500 species of kelulut or `meliponini’ in the world, and found in tropical region such as in Australia, Africa, South East Asia and tropical part of America.
