SARIKEI: Fifty needy people received food aid and essential items during the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) Ziarah Programme here on Wednesday (July 21).

The target groups — namely the elderly, asnaf, single mothers and persons with disabilities — received rice, instant noodles, biscuits, sugar, salt, cooking oil and Nestum as well as other essential items such as face masks and sanitisers.

Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii officiated at the handover of the contributions together with Angela Tiong, community development assistant officer from the Sarikei Social Welfare Department.

The food aid and essential items were provided by the Sarikei Social Welfare Department.

Huang said the provision of the food baskets was very significant and in line with the needs of the people during Phase 2 of the National Recovery Plan (NRP).

He thanked Ukas for organising the programme at the Repok Service Centre and all parties involved for making the event a success.
