51-year-old man latest Covid-19 fatality

KUCHING: A fifty-one-year-old Sarawakian man is the latest Covid-19 fatality case in the state, bringing the total number of deaths to 22 to date.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said this fatality was Case 2,546 who was admitted to Miri Hospital on Jan 18.

“He was admitted to Miri Hospital with breathing difficulty during a visit to Nephron Clinic on the same day.

“He was pronounced dead at 4.50pm on Jan 20,” it said in a statement today.

Elaborating on the matter, SDMC said the case underwent Covid-19 screening on Jan 18 and was found to be positive on Jan 20.

“He has end-stage renal failure which requires dialysis treatment,” it said.

SDMC extended its condolences to the family members of the victim.

Meanwhile, Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Beluru and Kanowit districts remain red zones with a total of 1,206 cases of local infection reported in the last 14 days.

Sebauh and Dalat remain orange zones with 50 cases of local infection.

Eighteen districts are yellow zones namely, Serian, Daro, Subis, Belaga, Betong, Meradong, Julau, Kapit, Simunjan, Asajaya, Beluru, Selangau, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Bukit Mabong, Bintulu, Limbang and Kanowit.
