KUCHING: After a delay of six months due to Covid-19, the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) have awarded 62 recipients for the Excellent Service Award (APC) 2019 yesterday.

State Bomba director Khirudin Drahman who officiated at the ceremony said that there are 113 recipients for such award.

“Sixty-two recipients in Kuching received their award today (June 26) while, the remaining 51 recipients will be awarded in the same ceremony to be held in Miri on July 10.

“A total of 105 men and eight women have been nominated for the State Bomba Excellent Service Award First Series 2019,” he said when officiating at the Sarawak Bomba APC 2019 ceremony at the State Bomba headquarters.

He stated that in compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs), two award sessions were planned to ensure social distancing with the minimum attendance allowed at one time.

That being said, Khirudin pointed out that the APC award was part of the recipients’ motivation, and the department’s recognition and appreciation for their commitment and dedication to this line of work.

“Therefore, make this excellent work culture an ongoing practice and not just a goal to win awards.

“Hold on to our pledge and promise to this (service) as part of our worship and practice, which is aligned with Bomba’s profession of courage, sincerity and glory,” he said.

He further hoped that all would continue to be agents of change, supportive of government policy and bravely empowering the delivery of fire and rescue services in safeguarding the country’s security and prosperity.
