71 homeowners grateful for refurbished houses

SUBIS: Seventy-one homeowners in the Bekenu constituency have expressed gratitude to the Sarawak government as their houses have now been refurbished through the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS) for this year.

Deputy Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Welfare Development and Bekenu assemblywoman Datuk Rosey Yunus said the project has been implemented at a total cost of RM495,000.

“Meanwhile, a sum of RM3.28 million has been allocated from 2018 to 2023 for the purpose of assisting in the maintenance of the houses in the constituency,” she said.

She said this during the 2023 PPRMS handover ceremony at the Kampung Kepayang Tiris Community Hall here recently,

She added a Minor Rural Project (MRP) fund of RM650,000 has also been utilised in 2018 for repair works and benefiting 562 residents from 13 longhouses.

“The MRP-PPRMS project from 2018 to 2023 totalled RM2.5 million, involving 208 village residents and 132 longhouse residents,” she said.

Also present were Subis District Council secretary Grace Joy; Subis District Office administrative officer Dr James Jam Jolly; and Subis District Pemanca Dr Ali Mudin.
