80 countries to explore cutting-edge growth

KUCHING: The 27th World Congress on Innovation and Technology 2023 and the 6th International Digital Economy Conference Sarawak 2023 (WCIT | IDECS 2023) set to take from Wednesday (Oct 4) until Oct 6 here will see a gathering of visionaries, innovators and technology enthusiasts from over 80 countries. 

In a statement, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) said the event offers opportunities to explore cutting-edge innovations, foster collaborations among industry leaders and empower individuals to drive positive change in the technology and digital economy sectors. 

Throughout the three-day event, SDEC has curated a series of activities at the SDEC Pavilion and Startup Village which includes a memorandum of understanding (MoU) exchange ceremony, talks, fireside chats, sharing sessions and student visit. 

“On top of that, there are a number of panel discussions planned featuring key individuals from SDEC. 

“Twelve ecosystem partners will be showcasing their products and services at the SDEC Pavilion located at Level 1. The partners are KARUNA (Sarawak), Aerodyne, Positive Mind, Cloud4Sea, WayPoint, LMR Technology, Plug & Farm, Weston Robot, Smart Modern Agriculture, Complete Human Network, TikTok Shop and Gadget Fusion,” it said.

Concurrently at Level 1 there will be the Startup Village which features 17 startups namely AI3D PLT, Entomal Biotech, The Learning Curve, EBTech, NEUON AI, Saraqube, Caliphs Digital Group, AgriSmartEye and BeyondHorizon.

Other startups are Formeta PLT, Migratesafe, Sinisana Technologies, Hexabyn Technologies, Arkod, Gearworks Technologies, Worming Up, and FutureLab. Also participating in the Startup Village are seven translational research teams from Swinburne Sarawak, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Sarawak.

A signature event of World Innovation, Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA), the event is hosted by the Sarawak government and co-organised by SDEC, Economic Planning Unit Sarawak (EPU), Sarawak Civil Service Digitalisation Unit (SCSDU), Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA), and Sarawak Information Systems (SAINS).
