KUCHING: The Department of National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) Sarawak has 172 kindergartens with a total of 3, 501 children.
It also has four nurseries.
This was disclosed by Minister of Welfare, Community Well Being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Sarawak Datuk Hajah Fatimah Abdullah during her working visit to JPNIN Sarawak at Simpang Tiga here yesterday.
She said the Ministry will work together with the Department of National Unity and Integration to ensure the professionalism of early childhood education teachers .
“We will work together to ensure the professionalism of teachers who are teaching our children at the kindergartens .
“We will be continuously giving attention to improve the level of their professionalism and skills through conference, conventions, workshops etc,” she said.
According to her, what is important is the quality of the early childhood education teachers and their qualification must not be less than diploma.
“The quality and qualification of teachers are important. They must atleast have a diploma. They must have the attitude and the passion, she said, adding that children with quality early childhood education is the basis for quality human capital,” she said.
“So, we will work together in matters of providing access to quality early childhood education in Sarawak. Which means we want to achieve no child are left behind,” she said.
