BINTULU: Police here arrested two local men for their involvement in drug abuse activities.
The suspects, aged 17 and 20, were found out to have been using drugs and their urine tests came back positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine.
“Both the suspects tested positive for drugs and are being detained. The case is being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952.
“If they are convicted under this section, they can be fined not more than RM5,000 or imprisoned not more than two years and under supervision of two years, said Bintulu district police chief Supt Batholomew Umpit.
This arrest is one of police’s efforts in overcoming the problem of drug abuse, as well as preventing criminal activities in the Bintulu, he explained.
Batholomew advised the public to inform the police if they have knowledge on existence of any drug or criminal activities in the area by calling the district police headquarters at 086-318304.
