KUCHING: The Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) 15th Triennial General Meeting (TGM), which began on Friday at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK), will end today.

During the convention, which is being attended by 2,420 delegates, the leaders have the opportunity to find out more about the problems at the grassroots level of all 82 branches, especially in the rural areas.

Here, some members of the PBB Women and Youth Wing share their thoughts and expectations about the convention.

RAIZUL NUR AKMAL, 28
(PBB Bukit Assek Division)

The convention is a good platform, especially for youth to improve their leadership skills. Sooner or later, the youth will be brave in fighting for the rights of Sarawak.

HASMAZRIZAN, 31
(PBB Pantai Damai Division)

I have high hopes for the new Youth Wing leaders and the new ideas and changes they bring. I also hope under the leadership of Sarawak Premier, more youth candidates will be highlighted and fielded in the next general election.

(PBB Bukit Kitang Division)

I welcome the new leaders who are expected to fulfil their promises for the benefit of the state. Their engagement is imperative.

SRANI LEBEN, 50
(PBB Balai Ringin Division)

I hope this meeting will provide more exposure to the women’s section, especially in enhancing the prosperity and well-being of the people in general. I also hope opportunities are given to women to expand their businesses.

ROVINA SUET, 49
(PBB Tebedu Division)

I am hopeful this meeting will bridge the gap between party members of all ages. Through their involvement, youth will be more exposed to the formal decision-making process.

IRENE VINCENT PUIN, 53
(PBB Mukah Division)

I expect to see more focus on economy for women. So far, economic development for women in my area is relatively weak. There are places to do businesses but exposure and facilities are lacking. If possible, I urge the women’s section to be more active in helping women leaders to improve the economy in their areas.

DAYANG NORJANAH ABANG DRASHID, 62
(PBB Kuala Rajang Division)

This convention allows all PBB delegates from Sarawak to gather, meet and enhance their friendships. Thus, ideas from all delegates of the areas can be heard and those in the upper positions can understand the expectations of the grassroots level.
