KUCHING: The Tutu Run & High Heel Dash Run Charity aims to raise awareness about cervical cancer through a fun-filled healthy run.
Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the run which will be held on May 14 at Saradise Edge, will be a platform to spread awareness that diseases such as cervix cancer can be “completely eliminated and prevented if early diagnosis is made”.
As the run also promotes healthy activities, she urged the community to participate in the programme.
“We hope that the community will come and take part in this run to raise public awareness about cancer.
“Prior to the pandemic, this run was participated by up to 1,000 participants. Therefore, we hope that this year we will be able to increase the number of participants,” she said told a press conference after receiving a courtesy visit from the Pink & Teal EmpowHer team at Baitulmakmur Building II here today.
The charity run which was held annually before the pandemic offers three categories, namely the 5 kilometre (km) fun run, 350 metre tutu high heel dash, and 15 kilometre race.
With a RM50 to RM60 registration fee, participants will be provided a running shirt, medal, and a tutu (for early birds).
Apart from the run, the programme will also be filled with various activities such as virtual medical courses and practical laboratory sessions.

For the record, the run is organised by Pink & Teal EmpowHer in conjunction with its two-day workshop in May titled ‘Cancelling Cervical Cancer – the Sarawakian Perspective’.
