KUCHING: Twenty-one students of Diploma in Diplomacy (DiD) and four officials from the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR), Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) participated in a Community Service Responsibility (CSR) and Outreach Programme at Semenggoh Wildlife Centre (SWC) near here yesterday.
According to the Diploma in Diplomacy (DiD) 2019 project manager Ariffin Gadait Jr, the programme was a preparatory course for the participants from IDFR of MoFA before they are posted to Malaysia’s Embassies and High Commissions overseas.
“It is a six-month programme which started in February and will be end in August.
“Before this, we have gone to every state in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah to undergo this programme. This is the first time we conduct it in Sarawak,” he said at the launching of a montage on awareness of the adoption of orang utan.
The initiative between the IDFR and SWC during the programme was the awareness on the adoption of orang utan at the centre where they produced a montage about SWC which will be uploaded to IDFR website.
“With that, students of the Diploma in Diplomacy (DiD) had created a video montage for the public to know more about SWC and its orang utan adoption programme which is in line with Sarawak Forestry Corporation’s missions to conserve and develop Sarawak’s forest products and services while maintaining a balance in economic, environmental and social interests,” he added.
The participants have been through their programme since Sunday at Telok Melano in Lundu. The programme ends today.
