KUCHING: The state government’s digital economy initiative will not neglect the quality of education in Sarawak.
Rural Electricity Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said that this was because the initiative also included education.
He added that the state government had allocated RM1 billion for the restoration of dilapidated schools throughout Sarawak.
The Pantai Damai assemblyman also said there were currently many dilapidated schools which needed immediate attention.
Meanwhile, Dr Abdul Rahman said that the education standards needed to be improved in the digital era.
“I believe that going digital in education can encourage students to further excel in their studies,” he said at the launch of “Myschool Myhome” programme. He was representing the Chief Minister at the event held at SK Rambungan, Lundu yesterday.
He added it could also help teachers to teach more effectively because of the facilities and sources available for teaching.
“I hope the education system with a computer for every student can be implemented in every school in Sarawak including the rural areas,” he said.
