MELBOURNE: Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has been conferred an Honorary Doctorate in Business and Management by Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, yesterday.

Abang Johari, who is also Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak Campus Pro-chancellor, was awarded the doctorate for his long and distinguished service to Sarawak, and his strong connection with Swinburne.

Swinburne Chancellor Graham Goldsmith presented the award during a ceremony at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Also present to witness the ceremony were Abang Johari’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, daughter Dayang Norjihan and son in-law Bouteflika Ahmad.

Abang Johari, in his acceptance speech, thanked Swinburne for the award, adding it would motivate him to work harder to transform Swinburne Sarawak into a premier university in Malaysia and in Asia.
