KUCHING: The 14 days campaigning period which starts after nomination closes today (Nov 5) is hoped to run smoothly.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said those campaigning regardless of which political party must conduct it in an orderly manner.

He pointed out that the 15th General Election (GE15) will see candidates battling it out in a straight and multi-cornered fight.

“The democratic process will give Sarawakians the opportunity to choose candidates who will fight for as well as defend our rights through the negotiation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Petra Jaya nomination centre here today.

The GPS chairman said the state government is hoping for the formation of a stable federal government after GE15.

In the past four years, he said a lot of time has been wasted due to political uncertainties in the country.

“We should be providing services to the people, especially when it is expected that in 2023 to 2024 we will face a great economic challenge.
