Abang Johari, wife cast votes in Petra Jaya

KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has cast his ballot at SK Merpati Jepang, Jalan Patinggi Ali here today.

Accompanied by his wife, Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang they arrived at the polling centre at 9:22am.

They had successfully cast their votes in the ballot box at channel 1 at 9:29am for the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency.

Following this, Abang Johari pointed out that with today’s fair weather, it is a good time for voters to come out and fulfil their duties.

“Let us all exercise our rights and vote during this 15th General Election (GE15),” he said when met by the media.

When asked about the overall campaign period in Sarawak, he said, “Alhamdulillah, Sarawak has a strong sense of unity here. With this, I hope our country will continue to be safe after this GE with a stable government (ruling it).”

In this 15th General Election, Petra Jaya parliamentary area saw a three way fight between Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Sopian Julaihi and Parti Sedar Rakyat Sarawak (SEDAR) candidate Datuk Othman Abdillah.

According to the Election Commission (EC) officer on site, SK Merpati Jepang has a total of almost 4,000 registered voters.
