Abang Karim reappointed SCCI president

KUCHING: Datuk Seri Abang Abdul Karim Tun Openg has been reappointed as the Sarawak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) president for the 2023 – 2025 term.

SCCI recently held its 72nd annual general meeting (AGM) on June 27 which saw Datuk Philip Ting Ding Ing appointed as deputy president.

Abang Karim said during the AGM, Sarawak Business Federation (SBF) Recovery BizFund co-chair Anne Kung also briefed member companies on capacity building and how to leverage on the Recovery BizFund platform to train as well as upskill their staff.

He said a few member companies which are already on board the BizFund initiative also shared their popular programmes, including Chemsain HRD Sdn Bhd, Yakin Impact Sdn Bhd (Teach Them to Bake Academy) and SAAT College.

“We are grateful to the state government for this funding and more importantly for the recognition accorded to SBF in which SCCI is a part of, to help support and uplift local businesses by providing and sponsoring programmes that allow its human capital to develop, grow and thrive in developing our state economy,” he said in a statement today.

Abang Karim also expressed his gratitude to SCCI’s members for their endorsement and vote of confidence.

“I hope SCCI will continue to champion the local business community and serve its members for many years to come,” he said.
