KUCHING: Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah thanked the federal government for giving its assurance that it will settle the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) issues under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP).

“We are happy that the federal government at this moment wants to listen or make efforts on what needs to be done,” he said in a press conference after officiating at the World Tourism Day 2021: Sarawak Commitment to Responsible Tourism event themed ‘Tourism for Inclusive Growth’ at Imperial Hotel Kuching yesterday (Sept 27).

Abdul Karim, who is also Asajaya assemblyman, said that both the state and federal governments are on the same platform and right track to ensure Sarawak has its rights returned.

“It would be difficult if one party requests for something and the other does not want to cooperate.

“But right now, we can see that there is understanding from both sides,” he said.
