Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar

KUCHING: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and micro entrepreneurs have been urged to change their marketing strategies and business models during the movement control order (MCO) period.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said this was in order to achieve business sustainability as conventional methods were no longer relevant.

“Explore two-pronged strategies such as using digital technology in doing online business and social media marketing,” he said in his Facebook after attending a special ministerial meeting in Putrajaya yesterday.

Wan Junaidi, who is also Santubong MP, said if entrepreneurs did not change to digital medium, then it would be difficult to attract customers.

“The digital economy opens up more opportunities for entrepreneurs and this MCO provides them the opportunity to change their marketing strategy and set up contingency plans in case the situation gets worse,” he said.

He urged entrepreneurs to use this opportunity to plan ideas that would be able to benefit them and their customers.
