THE Sg. Baji Agropark will commence operations in 2024, producing high-value crops.

Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom said the government has approved eight sites for the development of agroparks throughout Sarawak, in addition to the development of two agrotechnology parks.

In light of this, he said that the development of the farming facilities at Sg. Baji Agropark has been completed.

“It (the park) is expected to commence operation in the first quarter of 2024.

“The park is designed with a mixed farming system comprising greenhouse facilities and open farming lots to produce high-value food crops.

“Meanwhile, the other seven agroparks—Bebuling and Lubok Tamang in Betong; Asajaya and Gedong-Semelatong in Samarahan; Simanggang, Sri Aman; Dalat, Mukah; and Mulu, Miri—are still in various stages of implementation.”

He said this during his ministerial winding-up speech at State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting today (Nov 28).

Dr Rundi also said the physical development of Semenggok Agrotechnology Park is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2024, with an allocation of RM82 million.
