KUCHING: Indonesia AirAsia has recently announced a new route to boost tourism in the Asean region.

Starting on June 15, the airline will connect Indonesia’s capital city Jakarta to Kuching.

“Passengers can now enjoy promotional fares for as low as RM199 for a one-way flight from the AirAsia Super App and its website.

“This promotion will run from now until May 14 2023, for travel between June 15 and October 29 2023,” it said in a press release today.

Currently, AirAsia flies between Singapore and three Sarawak cities — Kuching, Miri and Sibu — making it the airline with the widest network between Singapore and Sarawak.

This is in addition to its domestic service within Sarawak, and to Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah.

Jakarta will become the second city in the Asean region to be connected with Sarawak by AirAsia.

Apart from the Jakarta-Kuching route, Indonesia AirAsia will also launch another international route from Jakarta to Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) in Vietnam and a domestic service between Jakarta and Labuan Bajo in East Nusa Tenggara.

The announcement of these new routes is expected to provide more convenience and accessibility for travellers, as well as contribute to the growth of the tourism industry in the Asean region.

With AirAsia’s wide network and affordable fares, tourists can now easily explore the different attractions and destinations across the region.
