All Joy Bakery brings CNY cheer for 33 children

KUCHING: All Joy Bakery brought cheer to 33 children from Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Children’s Home during a Chinese New Year gathering held at Wisma Saberkas here on Monday evening.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah who officiated at the event expressed her gratitude and appreciation to All Joy Bakery for organising the event for children.

“We appreciate this kind of activities for the children. These are the children under our care who were once abused or neglected by their parents due to their inability to take care of them. So the love and concern shown by members of the public are very much appreciated,” Fatimah said.

The proprietor of All Joy Bakery, Rachel Chan who also spoke said she was happy to be able to organise the event with the children.

She also thanked members of the public for supporting All Joy since its establishment 35 years ago.

The Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah Children’s Home was established in 2003 to accommodate children under 18 years old who needed protection and care. It also provides support and confidence to the children in replacement of their parents and to encourage their healthy physical, mental and emotional development.

The children were accompanied by 15 teachers of the home to the event.

Also present were the home principal Mohd Iskandar Muhamed Tudin, JAIS administrative officer Asmawaty @ Siti Asmah Ahmad, and Divisional Health Office’s environment health officer Sabri Sahari.
