Sarawak to lose everything if PH wins next state election: Fadillah
KUCHING: Sarawak’s immigration rights will be among the first of the state’s constitutional rights that it will lose if Pakatan Harapan takes over power from Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).
This stark reminder was issued by GPS chief whip in Parliament Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, who said this must never be allowed to happen.
The Petra Jaya MP said if Sarawak falls into the wrong hands, all its rights, which GPS has been protecting, will vanish.
“If PH gets to control Sarawak DUN, all will be gone. We will not be able to determine who can and cannot pass through our immigration check points.
“We will lose control of everything. Sarawak and Sarawakians will lose their identity. Malayans will ‘invade’ us,” Fadillah said at the closing ceremony of the Santubong Parliamentary-level Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) Seminar at Penview Convention Centre (PCC), Demak near here yesterday.
“Yes, our Oil Mining Ordinance (OMO) will be gone forever and that means we will not have any say in the oil and gas resources of this beloved state of ours.
“Do you want that to happen?” he asked to a thunderous “no” from the packed venue.
He said even with just “a handful of elected representatives”, PH has shown its true colour of attempting to hoodwink Sarawakians with their political machinations.
Fadillah was obviously referring to the PH’s 12 MPs and 10 assemblymen in Sarawak who have been running down the state government, creating and spinning issues such as those related to last month’s failed Bill in Parliament.
“That is why Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has been fighting hard to protect our oil and gas rights,” he pointed out.
He called upon those present at the seminar to rally behind the GPS-led state government, saying Sarawakians must never believe in the sugar-coated promises of the Malayan puppet masters and their Sarawakian underlings.
“GPS is here to ensure that what are ours are ours. We all have to work hard and consistently go to the ground to meet the people and tell them our struggles in protecting Sarawak’s rights and why we cannot allow those from West Malaysia to take over.
“The country is very fragile since PH took over because they keep changing and making U-turns in their policies.
“The people in Peninsular Malaysia have regretted voting them into power but it is already too late, like the Malay proverb says “nasi sudah menjadi bubur” (literally meaning, rice has turned into porridge).
“And Sarawakians who voted for PH, you had voted for empty promises.”
Fadillah said come the 12th State Election, which may be held before the term of the current state government ends on Sept 7, 2021, Sarawakians must be reminded of the need to defend the state from outsiders who have been attempting to “wriggle their way through all means, including passing Bills and laws in their bid to erode and rob us of our rights”.
