SARATOK: Kalaka Assemblyman Mohamad Duri has stressed the need for everything to be in place for the Saratok Festival which is just days away.

He called for attention on especially waste management, traffic control and public safety.

“As the host, we are trying to ensure the Saratok Festival, which is an iconic event in this district, runs smoothly and visitors gain a valuable experience,” he said.

He said this after the Saratok Festival organising committee meeting chaired by Saratok District Officer Haron Mahidi.

“I understand that a variety of food and drinks will be sold later as well as handicrafts produced by the local community. There will also be clothing and children’s games,” said Mohamad.

“So, people should not miss the opportunity because we are trying to serve the best from here,” he said.

This, he said, is in line with the objective of the festival which is for traders to generate more income and for visitors to see the unique treasures of the Saratok District.

He called on the local community, especially the youth, to participate in various programmes and activities organised throughout July.

“The Saratok Festival organising committee has listed more than 15 main events including the highlight, the Kalaka Regatta, on July 28 to 30,” he said.

Krian assemblyman Friday Belik and councillor Kasdi Pandi were also present.
