Overwhelming response to KJA2023

KUCHING: This year’s Kenyalang Journalism Awards 2023 (KJA2023) has received an overwhelming response with a total of 353 entries from media practitioners all over Sarawak.

President of Federation Sarawak Journalists Association (FSJA) Andy Jong Wan Joon said that from the 353 entries, 79 entries were for the Malay category, 76 entries for the Chinese category, 74 entries for the English category, 33 entries for the Iban category, 66 for the broadcast category and 25 for the photojournalism category.

“Transport Minister Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin will represent Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg to officiate at the ceremony which is scheduled to take place next Friday (November 24) in Miri,” he said in a recent statement.

He also expressed his appreciation towards the community who were willing to support the advertisements in the KJA2023 booklet.

For the record, KJA2023 offers a cash prize worth RM250,000, with a total of 11 categories up for contest, including the Premier of Sarawak Award.

Among the 11 categories are: ‘Community Well-Being Journalism Award’; ‘Sustainability Journalism Award’; ‘Business and Economy Journalism Award’; ‘Journalism Awards (Feature and News Feature)’; ‘News Reporting Award’; ‘Sports Journalism Award’; ‘Digital Economy Journalism Award’; ‘Photo Essay Award’; ‘Photo Journalism Award’; ‘Broadcasting Journalism Award’; and ‘Sarawak Premier Award’.
