KUCHING: Merchants at India Street received Covid-19 self-test kits as part of an awareness campaign on the importance of conducting regular self-tests.

The Covid-19 self-test kits were distributed by chairman of India Street Pedestrian Mall Merchants Association Datuk Wee Hong Seng together with the association’s secretary Bong Lian Huan and managing director of Tay Motor Sdn Bhd Aaron Tay.

“I would like to urge the business owners and public to always conduct self-tests for Covid-19 from time to time to ensure that they are always in the best of health.

“It is also to keep themselves safe and healthy so that they can safely serve customers and build back customers’ confidence while they shop in a health environment,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Oct 26).

Wee who is also the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor said that it is a shared social responsibility besides getting vaccinated, practicing good hygiene, and staying away from others when unwell.

“This is the best way for us to stop spreading the Covid-19 virus; we can stop the spread if we are fully aware of our health.

“We need to work together and keep on reminding each other of the standard operating procedure (SOP) laid by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC),” he added.
