KUCHING: A pregnant woman, who was in an ambulance which involved in a collision with a SUV vehicle, has been hospitalised.

Two nurses were accompanying the patient from Samarahan clinic when the accident happened.

One of the nurses suffered injuries to her left cheek. The 42-year-old driver suffered injuries to his right hand.

The injured nurses after passers by helped them out of the ambulance.

In the 9.45am incident, the ambulance was heading to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) when at the Tun Ahmad Zaidi Adruce traffic light junction, a SUV driven by a 74-year-old man collided with them.

The collision caused the ambulance to land on its side.

Passers-by rushed to help the victims out of the ambulance.

The injured were rushed to SGH for treatment. The elderly driver of the SUV escaped unhurt.

Sarawak head of traffic Superintendent Alexson Naga Chabu confirmed the case. He said the SUV driver will be charged under Section 43(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.
