KUCHING: Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Assistant Minister Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais yesterday declared open the Anjung Usahawan (Entrepreneurs Platform) premises located at Jalan Semariang here.

The premises comprising two three-storey shop lots at Lot 477 (Phase 3) Block 17, Salak Land District, are intended to be let out for rent to Bumiputera entrepreneurs with low rental rates.

“The lower floor is for rent to entrepreneurs, while second and third floors are for office use and as incubator purposes.

“Incubator is a temporary office that can be used by entrepreneurs who do not have their own office. They can use this incubator as an address so that they can register their companies,” he explained.

According to Naroden, with the presence of this Anjung Usahawan it is expected to be able to improve the economic standards of the local population, create job opportunities and increase the purchasing power of the people around it.

“It can also be a catalyst for entrepreneurship development among Bumiputera  communities.

“This initiative is taken into consideration to assist small and medium entrepreneurs – hence, the rental rates we charge are reasonable,” said Naroden who is also E-Commerce Assistant Minister.

He added Teraju has also bought 20 shophouses for entrepreneurship development throughout Sarawak.

“There are six places that will have this Anjung Usahawan namely Lawas, Betong, Gedong, Limbang, Sri Aman, and Kuching,” he said.

Anjung Usahawan Semariang is an initiative under the Entrepreneur and Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) Development Ministry and sponsored by Teraju. Run by Sanjung Teraju Sdn Bhd, it aims to empower and enhance entrepreneurship among Bumiputera in the state.
