Another new cluster declared in Kuching district

KUCHING: The State Health Department has declared a new cluster dubbed the Kampung Boyan cluster in Kuching district on Sunday (May 16).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said that it was a community cluster detected involving three families in Kampung Boyan.

“Of the 69 individuals who were screened, 19 including the index case were positive while 50 were negative.

“All the positive cases were referred to Sarawak General Hospital and admitted to the low-risk quarantine centre (PKRC) in Kuching district for isolation and further treatments,” SDMC said.

It added the State Health Department had declared the end of the Emperoh Jambu cluster in Kuching and the Chupak cluster in Serian.

“There are 81 active Covid-19 clusters in the state and 11 clusters had recorded 68 new cases,” said SDMC.

The clusters that recorded new cases were the Jalan Selirik cluster in Kapit, the Melugu cluster in Sri Aman, the Jalan Agama cluster, the Jalan Limbang cluster and the Jalan Lilin cluster in Miri, the Bungey cluster in Betong, the Beladin cluster in Pusa, the Tebedu Mawang cluster in Tebedu, the Jalan Stadium Negeri cluster and the Kampung Boyan cluster in Kuching as well as the Emperan cluster in Selangau.
